Handel was born on the same year as Johann Sebastian Bach, and although they never met, each was an ardent admirer of one another. While Bach stayed in Germany, George Handel migrated to England, where he made a career composing many Oratorios for the Church of England. One of his most famous, the 'Messiah', has the 'Halleluja Chorus' heard in many films today. My own parody of that work is called 'Read and Study Chorus'.
Handel was also a first rate pipe organist. He also composed many secular works depicting man and nature, such as his 'Harmonious Blacksmith' for Haprsichord. His 'Cuckoo and the Nightingdale' from the organ symphony in F really sounds like the answer-call of two birds played on different manuals of the organ.
